A Pure Heart Renewed
Scripture Reading
Introduction
Friend, you cannot scrub your own heart clean -- but you can ask the One who creates clean hearts.
Only God Creates
Psalm 51:10 is David's prayer after his great failure, asking God to create in him a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit. Ezekiel 36:26 shows this is God's own promise, to remove a heart of stone and give a heart of flesh. Matthew 5:8 reveals the reward, since the pure in heart will see God.
Living It Out
Seeking Jesus as the one who makes you new means repenting of trying to manage your heart's impurity on your own. Examine what you have been feeding your heart and mind through your eyes and screens this week. Operate as God commands by praying Psalm 51:10 honestly and removing one source of impurity from your life today.
The Promise
Prayer
Heavenly Father, create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Take away what is hard in me and give me a heart that wants You. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
